[UPDATE] New flute on the way!

I got a new flute! That’s right.
Well, it’s not exactly new, but who cares about that when you fall instantly in love with one the second you lay eyes on it…

I purchased it secondhand today on a well known Dutch version of eBay. The person who sold me the flute couldn’t tell me much about the flute, except that it is a Simba flute (what a cool name!) and that it’s silver-plated (you can kinda see that on the picture).

So I looked up Simba on the net, and found out that it’s kind of a cheap thing, really. Apparently, they’re made in China from cheap materials, sold brandless to other vendors, who then engrave them with whatever they want and sell them. Not many people are enthusiastic about Simba flutes, so I read on many forums.

Why did I buy it then, you ask?
Well, I for one am a firm believer in the philosophy of “an instrument is an instrument, whether it’s made out of gold or plastic”. Plus, it just looks too good to pass on! And, as an added bonus, I got it for practically nothing; a few bucks and postage.
I thought I should give this outcast a new chance at a wonderful life… ;)

I’ll keep you posted when it arrives, and will upload a video of me demonstrating my two flutes: a Maestro silver-plated open-hole B-foot flute, and my Simba probably not-real-silver-plated closed-hole C-foot flute :)
