Audio test on flute

ytsoI uploaded an audio test today, after many hours of microphone testing and testing and testing…

The mic on my new web cam wasn’t working that well with me playing the flute, it squeaked whenever I play a high note. So I got myself an external mic today, just a standard simple thing really, it even has a Skype Certified logo on it. That should tell you enough. Unfortunately, that was really my only choice, in all 3 stores I visited, so I just went for it!

I had to do several tests, with volume adjustments through the web cam software, through the System settings, and by moving the microphone closer to the mouthpiece, or the end of the flute tube.

I found that with the Mic Boost option, I got the most clear sound of my flute. And that was what I was after. Only downside to that is that there’s a humming in the background now. I’m not sure if and how I could get rid of that, but for now I’m sort of pleased with the audio result.

So what do you think? Audio cool yes/no? Leave me a comment or a tweet!
