wanted: pattern testers

wanted-pattern-testers

I usually edit my patterns myself. But sometimes (like for the upcoming Design Wars design) it’s nice to have a second set of eyes to look over your work.

And that’s why I’m looking to form a group of 5-10 pattern testers! This is what I’m looking for:

- Someone who can work with deadlines. Some deadlines will be very short and I need people who can meet those deadlines.
- Someone who’s comfortable with reading and editing patterns, and isn’t afraid to point out mistakes to me.
- Someone who’s got attention to detail; things like typo’s, spelling mistakes, errors in stitch counts; those are things that I need someone to spot.
- Someone who can take great photos of their finished work. They don’t have to be super professional or anything, but just know how to work a camera. If you’re taking pictures in the dark with your flash, this is not for you.
- Someone who can keep patterns to themselves and has no problems with confidentiality. Some patterns that need testing aren’t supposed to be released ‘into the wild’ yet; I need people who can keep them to themselves and not share them with others. You are getting the pattern for free; please be respectful.

To apply, send me an e-mail , with the following info:

- your name, age, and way to contact you (preferably e-mail)
– your skill level
– examples of your work, or a link where I can see it

Anyone can submit! :) I’m looking for a wide range of skill levels, so please feel free to submit, no matter what your skill level is. I do need people who can start right away though.

I’m looking forward to seeing your submissions :)

Update: I’ve found my pattern testers!

  1. Hi Winke, You are wonderful, I love your work and style. I’m mother and grandma to 2 aspies and I had never thought of suggesting crochet to them. I will try. Do your pattern testers need to be in any particular country? I’m in Australia. I would find it fun to do.

  2. Why age? How is that relevant? These days you don’t include DOB on job applications, so why for a crochet pattern testing thing?
    Curious

    • Hey Rachell, I’m interested in knowing your age just so I can assemble a diverse group! :) Everybody is welcome, no matter what age you are or where you live.
      xo, wink

  3. I sent you an email :O)

  4. Sent in my application. Good luck everyone! ♥

  5. Maybe next time i will join. Unfortunately, coming time i’m too busy so i know i can’t make your deadlines for the testing. Good luck with the project and to all the testers. :-)

  6. my computer will not let me click the e-mail link is there another way of sending you the info?

  7. I would love to test for you! I’m 59, an intermediate crocheter, actually taught myself at age 18. I read the printed instructions well and work better with pictures of the product to compare to….I don’t understand the graphs much at all. I live in FL and am not employed so can meet your deadlines and I can take nice sunny pictures outside (if it’s not raining) then it’s on the porch. If you want me to help, just let me know. I’m on facebook – Janet Literal Skiles.

    • Hey Janet, please send me your info via e-mail instead of commenting here; this helps keep everything organized for me :) Thanks!

  10. I wish I could apply for this :’( I’m just afraid I wouldn’t be able to make the deadlines

  11. I realize the design wars event is over, but if you need testers in the future I would like to offer my services. I have experience . thanks and I really like your work.
