This is the crochet pattern that I used for my cascading drops headbands. These drops are super easy to make and highly addictive! :) Let’s get started.
What you’ll need:
- the yarn of your choice (here I used Paris Drops in various colors)
- an appropriate hook (I chose a 5mm hook but you can use a smaller size to make the drops more sturdy)
- scissors or clippers to cut the yarn
- a threading needle

The terms I use are all US terms. Terms used: sl st, ch, dc, tr, dtr. (in UK terms that would be sl st, ch, tr, dtr, trtr)
That’s it, here we go! :)
- Start with a magic circle, and secure. If you don’t know how to do this, check here.

- Chain 3. (ch3)

- Make one treble crochet into the circle. (1tr)

- Crochet 17 double crochets into the circle. (17dc)

- One treble crochet into the circle. (1tr)

- One double treble crochet into the circle. (1dtr)

- Join with a slip stitch in the top of the first chain 3. Pull on the yarn a bit after joining; you will see the point of the drop starting to form.

- Pull on the thread that is on the back of the drop, coming out of the center. This will close the hole. If you used a smaller hook, you may need some serious upper arm strength for this! ;)

- Finish off by getting rid of the ends using a threading needle. Flip over your drop and voila, you’re done! :)
With these drops you can make all kinds of things! I for instance used them to make cascading drops headbands, by hot glueing little felt circles to the tip of the drops, and then stacking them onto headbands. Easy peasy but a great result! You could try two of each color, like the blue one below, and change the colors around like the pink one in the top banner! For the first headband you see in the banner I used 8 different Autumn-inspired colors :)
What are you going to make with your drops? I’d love to see! :)

I’ve been making a stack of crochet circles too this week, I do mine slightly different, I just use a regular chain & ss together. I’ve made a stack in white, I’ll then crochet a chain, attach them & voila a Xmas garland!
