blankets blankets everywhere

| 16 lovely comments

Somehow I managed to get 2 deadlines for blankets in one month! It’s pretty crazy, but I think I can manage.

The first blanket is a tutorial project for Tuts+; a squares blanket!

I’m about 1/3 done with this blanket; the total tally for the squares is 195 (including triangle pieces for the edges; the squares are going to be diamonds). These aren’t all the colours that will be used in the blanket; there will be purples, greens and other ones added later. This will become a very eclectic, yet very subtle coloured blanket! I love love love working on these little squares, they make me very happy :) (oh and if you’re wondering why I haven’t closed them; I always wait till they’re all done, and then I close the rounds using the needle join, to make sure the edges line up and have the same amount of stitches)
I’ll keep you updated on the progress, and I’ll definitely let you know when the tutorial is published.

The second blanket is the Vintage Fan Ripple blanket, which I showed you as a WIP last year.

I wish I could tell you it was finished, but…

I haven’t even added one single stripe! This blanket still resides in it’s basket, where it is getting way too comfortable ;)

So that’s my January time sorted out I guess! The good thing is that at the end of the month, I’ll have two blankets. The bad news is that before the end of the month, I have to finish two blankets ;) It’s a good thing they are awesome to work on!

xo,
wink

  1. I really like the vintage fan ripple blanket – one day I’ll have to make one. :)

  2. I really like the colour combo of the first blanket as it is now! But I’m curious to see how it will turn out with purples and greens :) I’m currently trying to work out an old design of a blanket which I made up on the go. Very nice, but a pain in the butt to figure out in hindsight…. Especially since I wasn’t crocheting for very long at the time, and the blanket is *ahum* slightly crooked.

  3. I love all those little squares. This is on my list to try this year. The vintage fan ripple looks gorgeous. I love the colors you are using. I just finished your Winter Mandala in issue 11 of Simply Crochet…loved working on it. About to do the one from issue 6. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us

  4. I love the squares for the Tut blanket. I have a similar pattern that I have been asked to make into a large blanket. I am an advanced beginner. Could you share with me how to increase to make one large square into a blanket? Thank you for all the patterns you share!

  5. The vintage fan ripple is gorgeous goof luck with them both and happy new year

  6. Happy New Year, Wink. Thank you so much for all your posts and mails. Admitting you haven’t finished your blanket is wonderfully refreshing and to say it’s getting way too comfortable is a great way to admit it’s a project you’re going to finish. I have adult ADD…and sometimes finishing anything gives me such panic I can’t deal with it. You are loved by many and respected for your creativity. Enjoy your day.

  7. I am totally going to try the Vintage Stripe blanket, it looks beautiful!!

  8. The vintage fan ripple is amazing. I love the red, blue and pale yellow combination at the top particularly. Can’t wait to see the finished article. xx

  9. I love the colours of your granny square blanket! I have a bunch of blankets on the go now too. First my sunburst squares one that has been a long labour of love and now a hexie blanket for a friend and the Mood Blanket 2014 Project which I just couldn’t resist, I am swimming in WIPs!!!

  10. I just love the Vintage Fan Ripple blanket. Everytime I see that stitch I fall in love with it, yet for some reason I haven’t tried it myself. The colours of the little squares work together beautifully and I can’t wait to see the finished product with the extra colours. Enjoy your busy month Wink :)

  11. Keep focusing on the end results if creating 2 beautiful handmade blankets!!! X

  12. I adore your squares blanket ~ even if you didn’t add any further colours, I love the colours that you’ve used so far. I love your ripple blanket too… for some reason I don’t enjoy making “line” rather than “square” blankets though, which is a shame because I do like the end results!

  13. I’m liking your squares a lot, I’m making some too although they’re on the back burner right now. It will be cool to see how different it looks when you add in some new colours, it completely changes the whole look and feel – but then if you’re anything like me you get too indecisive about which to use haha

I’ve never seen anything like the vintage fan ripple before, it’s really cool! Don’t work yourself too hard to finish them, deadlines can be the worst and if you do too much you might hurt your fingers :(

  14. These are going to be beautiful wink!! I especially can’t wait to see the squares blanket complete!
