color the rainbow

Hey everyone!

Well, this is awkward. I was working on designing today’s mandala, and I had a wonderful inspirational picture and the colors were really coming together, so I reach down to grab my yarn, and… I ran out of two colors! How did this happen? :(

I rummaged through my stash to see what other colors I was missing, and then it occurred to me that I don’t have a quick way to see all the colors I have.

Time to remedy that :)

From some silver card stock I cut out 7x5cm rectangles, and using a tiny puncher I punched out flower-shaped holes in the top center of them. I cut a length of yarn from all the colors in my stash and using ModPodge, glued them to the card stock.

Then I took a ribbon and strung it through all the cards – done! :)

These cards are an easy and quick way to see what colors there are in my stash (of cotton yarn), and they’re the perfect companion for designing mandalas!

All I have to do now is write down the color numbers on the cards, so I know what colors to order the next time I run out.
In the meantime I ordered some new yarn, so expect a new mandala from me next week! :)

xo,
wink

  1. Ohh, pretty! Great idea! I store my yarns in a plastic box with warm colours one side and cool colours on the other – this helps me :D

  7. I really like this idea. I always get my colours and wools muddled and have been trying to think of a solution to keep things more organised when I want to buy more.
